I see all these fools at level 70 but they haven't gone up. These people have no lives or anything? It's the ultimate goal to hit the highest level.

Yeh were fools for not prestiging... and you obviously have more of a life than the people who haven't prestiged because your gona rank up to level 70 ten times in a row.

A flashy little emblem isnt going to persuade my ego into prestiging full stop.

I don't prestige because it took me long enough to get there and that because there are so many cheats glitching ****ers i really couldn't be bothered doin it all over again. if this means i have no life so be it.

Well the opening post and subsequent post make this look like a troll thread but I'm going to leave it open to discuss the question.

I don't prestige because I just can't be bothered tbh. I play the game for fun and for me, half the fun is having loads of different weapon and perk loadouts to try out.

Couldnt of said it better myself.I prestiged once for the hell of it and wont do it again.Miss my claymores and ak47!!

Have decided to try and use the guns and perks that I didnt use before and have a bit of mindless fun and to hell with my killdeath ratio!

Couldnt bother my arse replying to the OP as I have promised myself not to feed troll's anymore:rolleyes:

For the same reason I don't give a damn what my Kill/Death ratio is. I play for fun. Why, with the amount of time it takes to get to Level 70, would I want to throw that all away so I get a new emblem every 70 levels and a new custom slot every 140 levels? 5 custom slots are enough for me, because if I really need to, I can just replace one I don't use very often with a new one.

If there was a real reward for prestiging I might have considered it, but in my opinion, the price you pay does not equal the reward you get.

And as others have said, with so many glitchers in the game who, for some reason, have level 70 10th prestige badges, but only about 4 seconds of gameplay time, what's the point? A fancy badge and number beside your name doesn't mean you're a good player. In fact, to me, it means the opposite

I asked myself the question, Prestige or Not. Why? Is it worth it?

I stayed on level 70 (first time around) for a few days but got bored. I'd completed alot of the challenges already for couple of weapons and completed various other challenges... I decided to go through Prestige and do many of the challenges again. After 1st Prestige, you unlock 'Prestige' challenges, so it's nice to take those on and complete them.

I'm upto rank 68 now again (achieved in many less hours of game play) and I will have the same decision again soon. I can understand why people would stay on level 70 and attempt to unlock or complete most of the challenges, whatever floats your boat. My main thing is my Kill : Death ratio. It was ~1.19 after going through Prestige first time, now its 1.44.

There is no rulebook - but to the OP, yes, poorly made argument.

But surely your K/D ratio would have improved by just playing the game more anyway? The more you play, the better you get. I can't see how Prestiging would affect that unless it resets your K/D ratio (maybe it does, I don't know enough about it tbh)

No your right, your KD ratio would improve the more gametime you put in. It has nothing to do with going through Prestige.

There is good competition between my friends and I to see who can achieve the best KD ratio - our ranks are irrelevant.

Right, OP was a bit of a mess but I'll try and respond.

People dont have to prestige, 99.9% of level 70 Emblem-rank-comm.jpg people would kick first, second, third...tenth prestige ass at the game!

    Why?

Because they play it for skill, not for this gold_star.gif

I personally think EVERYONE should prestige once.

This goes for the people in this thread.

    Why?

Because you get more challenges for your weapons & perks (Prestige challenges) and these are a great target for you, like 1,000 kills with a weapon as opposed to just 500 for the standard challenges.

If I see a lobby full of level 70 Emblem-rank-comm.jpg I know its gonna be a good game, with people who are pretty skilled with their wepons, have all their killstreak layouts set to fully maximise their score and thus creating an all around, harder, but better style of gameplay for the likes of me playing them

Prestige if you want, don't if you don't want, but for christ sake, don't give out to people who dont play the game the way you want them too.

I bet if we were to look at peoples XBL / PSN we would see that most (if not all) their played games were not at 100% completed

So why should this game be any different.

I personally am not a big fan of 'finishing' games with every single teddybear picked up along the way

I play for fun..... If I kill a 4th prestige with a toothpick and i'm only level 35, this is what happens.....................

I've gone through once and am currently at level 25 or something. I definitely think its worth going through at least once for reasons mentioned already.
It definitely makes you appreciate the weopons a bit more aswell as you need to think about your loadouts a lot more when you have less toys to play with.
I don't think I'll go through again but you never know. The extra "Create a Class" slot is redundant for me at the moment but I expect it to become useful once I hit the 50+ mark again.

I really dont' get why there are so many moaners about this amazing game.:confused::confused:

Why would it be redundant? If you are trying to complete challenges for guns, such as the FAMAS, why not create say 3 classes )or more) with the FAMAS as primary. Put FMJ on one, Silence on another and Grenade on the 3rd. That way you can put kills towards different challenges depending on the map. For example, FMJ is handy on Favela because there are so many thin walls to shoot people through. Noontube handy on levels like Estate cause you can try to clear out people in the house. Silence on maps such as Wasteland where you don't have much cover so masking your location is important. You can then have one sniper class, one witch class and one airsupport killer class.

This means you are not scrambling around in the lobby trying to change your setup for the map, only for the map to change at the last minute and leaving you stuck. That's what I have and find myself very rarely changing the details of my classes in the lobby. (Obviously you can pick other attachments as preferred also.)

I do agree in the main. People bitch for ridiculous reasons such as guns being overpowered, classes being unfair etc etc, but there are some genuine reasons where people are abusing the game by glitching/boosting etc.

I agree here. You have to adjust your style and tactics until you rank up again and unlock the magical claymores. You definitely play smarter while working your way back up.

Good points. Yeah I do intend doing that but I meant I don't really have enough unlocked yet to have 3 similar classes using a wide range of Perks and attachments. The boosters are eejits. Why bother ?

Fully understand why people don't prestige.

However, I myself have and will continue to prestige.

I don't really care about titles or emblems but I do want the 8th prestige badge, simply because I like the look of it. Nothing to with ego or whatever. It's an extra challange and something to look forward to. Don't get me wrong I really miss certain perks, guns and equipment but meh I enjoy for the most part playing through and earning everything again.

Playing competitive clan matches, the extra slots would be handy. I regulary chop and change classes anyway.

There's really no right or wrong... unless you're a sad booster or hacker. Rather earn my stripes as the saying goes.

Depends how you measure it...;) I guess the two obvious ones are level v time played, or k:d ratio.

On levels, we're both first prestige and I'm level 53 to your 68 (I think you said that). You've played an extra day and a half last time I looked but that might be wrong. I'd say we'd be reasonably close on levels if I get to catch up on game time played. But that's a lot of time to catch up so who knows...

On k:d, I'm continuing the upward trend and just clocked past 1.3 last night. But so are you (1.42 last I looked??). So that will be tough to reel in as it'll need some big numbers each night. I did well on Monday with some 22-1 games which moved me from 1.27 up to 1.3 so we'll see how that keeps going.

More minor comparisons are that I've still got that beast of a killstreak at 35 which will be hard for you to beat with less kills from Harriers/Pavelows now compared to December when I got it. I'm up on 20% accuracy where I think you're between 13-14%. You've got a 1.01 or something win ratio, where I was about .98 or .99 last time I looked so close there. I'm determined to improve that though. I guess it's the problem with playing a lot of MTDM when mates aren't online.

    Whadya reckon??

Yes, who is this Eagle Eyes?

True, but then again the first gamertag was also my first ever exp with online fps games. Where as I believe you put in a couple of hours with COD4?? ;)

So I'd say you got the basic game mechanics right quicker than me anyway, as you knew what to try to learn asap, and also about killstreaks etc. I was wandering around like a total noob without any idea of proper tactics, killstreaks etc. Might be wrong, but I'd say the two roughly even themselves out overall.

    I guess we'll see when COD7 comes out! ;)

I did a few prestiges in MW1 and have no interest in doing it in MW2. It's absolutely meaningless and whatever value it does hold is completely devalued by those who've got there illegitimately.

I've lost a lot of interest in MW2 also, and want to have the full arsenary of weapons available when I do bother playing it, as opposed to *having* to play to unlock something decent.

I prestiged the first time and I'm level 69 now and will prestige again. Why? I kinda like the challenge of going through the ranks again... i like blazing through the first 20 levels and then the pain of getting all the weapons etc... Holy crap, maybe I'm a masochist?!? Anywho, I think I'll probably keep going until it ultimately drives me crazy... Doubt I'll get to 10
