    Hi all.

Is there ever a simple sensor fix for this problem or is it new head time?

    No expert but,

What year? (M40 or M43 engine)

    Check the obvious first
    1) Check for leaks
    2) Is the thermostat opening (is the top hose cool?) (Do these fail open or closed?)
    3) Is the water circulating? (Don't know what sort of pump is in these, but I've heard of plastic impellers breaking up on M50 engines)

Should be that much of a problem to fix **as long as you haven't cooked it good and proper or cracked anything.**

While you wait for some better info, give us all a bit of the back story - What led up to it overheating in the first place? The information you've given is a bit lacking in er detail so far.
