    Hi all

Didn't know where to put this, so apologies if its in the wrong place

I received a postcard in my letterbox this morning, addressed to my wife and I from abroad, claiming to be from 2 foreign students. I have no idea who they are, have definitely never met them, and have no idea where they could have got our name and addresses. Probably an over the top reaction but I'm a bit freaked out, and concerned that it's some sort of a scam. I have a family so the idea of someone arriving on my front door is a little worrying

Can anyone enlighten me please ?

    Thanks

That would freak me out. Do you have children who might have been in contact with these people without you knowing?

Thanks for the reply....no....kids are in the clear....they are only babies. Was thinking of a trip to the local Gardai but they'd probably laugh me out of the station. And i could understand that too.

I don't think you need the Gardaí, just throw it in the bin. Lots of that stuff around.

It might just be an advertisement for a holiday. What's the message?

Yeah...thanks.....I'm sure you're right. Still though.....a bit freaky. Strangely, they put their e-mail address on it

Mind you....just because I'm paranoid etc......;)

I think it depends on what the card says.

Stick there names into Facebook and see who comes up. Even Google there email address, it should come up with a few results.

It was about nothing in particular but they did say they were hoping to go to Dublin next time

Based on what you have said, about the only thing they could do is get your e-mail address if you e-mailed them. Do don't e-mail them.

I think i;ll leave it alone for the moment and await developments...just with a young family, I'd rather not have anyone land on the doorstep

    Cheers

Just an idea but there is this thing in a Danny Wallace book about random acts of kindness where one of the ideas is to pick a name and address out of the phone book at random and send them a postcard from your holidays.

Me and my girlfriend were going to do that when we were travelling last year, cos it seems like a fun thing to do to bring a smile to someone's face.
