Tesco Laptop - Emachines - is it worth buying ?

    Tesco have a D620 Notebook for sale @ € 349

    It is a single core , 1GB ram with 14.5 inch screen .

    Would it be value for money at taht price for surfing etc ?

    One word; NO! Very poor word of mouth on E-Machines, plus thats ridiculously poor spec (even for a low price)

    Avoid like the plague, terrible brand, also that seems a bit pricey for a single core/1gig ram machine, the cpu is prob a sempron, celeron!

    Couldn't agree more with the above. It's a terrible laptop, both in the spec, and the quality of those machines is non existent.

    Are Emachines not part of the Acer family I believe though, which it was mentioned to me on another thread are a top notch make? Hmm, hearing a lot of conflicting points of view here! Don't know what to believe...

    Just because they are made by Acer does not mean they are great, wouldnt be to big a fan on acer laptops either myself, EMachines are marketed as "Family Computers", these are generally machines which come with loads of "goodies" but under the hood are unrelyable and poorly built, with very lackluster hardware, Its a bit simular to the Asus vs ASRock motherboard comparisions you'll see, im most cases, the Asus board would be far more desireable
