Royal Irish Academy IT Manager Position - application process bit OTT???

    Does the following recruitment process sound a little OTT to you?

    The Royal Irish Academy are currently looking for an IT Manager for a 15 month contract position, salary in the range €62,071 to €71,814 per annum.

    In addition to providing two referees (which they state should be prepferably a former or current (!) employer, the following must also be sumbitted times 6 by snail mail and once by email...

    Applications for the position of IT Manager must be submitted in one document (unbound) including the following in this order:

    1. A Summary Personal Details form

    2. A succinct curriculum vitae summarising your qualifications and relevant experience (no more than 4 pages)

    3. A statement demonstrating how you meet the requirements (Points 3 & 4) for the position of IT Manager (no more than 2 pages)

    4. A statement outlining your approach to managing the design and implementation of digital humanities projects within a repository environment (no more than 2 pages)

    5. A list of software development activities, including open source development and implementation (no more than 1 page)

    Completed applications consisting of six hard copies must be submitted by post to the Human Resources Officer, Royal Irish Academy, 19 Dawson Street, Dublin 2. An electronic version in one document must also be e-mailed to hr@ria.ie

    i don't work in that area but it's an employers market now and you can be certain that a hell of a lot of people will follow those instructions to the letter. for those wages i think it's actually not that bad, 6 hard copies is about 5 mins at the photocopier after all.

    True, but I still think that it's hoops much considering it's primarily a contract role that would pay a little shy of what an average .net/c# contractor would be bringing in.
