Ireland hopes of progressing to this year's ICC World Twenty20 suffered a blow as they lost their opening qualifier against Afghanistan. The Afghans continued their recent dominance over the Irish by clinching a 12-run win in Dubai on Tuesday.
The Irish restricted Afghanistan to 138-9, but after a decent start Phil Simmons' side collapsed to 126 all out.

Good thing they didn't beat us at Hurling!

Believe it or not, we have a Cricket forum. You have to be sponsored to join though as things can get pretty heated in there. I was called a silly mid off once.

If only we had a more approrpaite forum.... say cricket for example...

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Then Pakistans coach got killed the next day.

Cricket is like a soap opera, well it's as boring at least.

They IRFU prefer to just leave the word "gay" out of their title, but otherwise you're entirely correct.

    Most boring bloody game ever.
    Seriously.. It's worse than baseball.

Does anybody watch this sport that didn't use to play it as a kid?

If the Irish team knew where the Afghans had planted the land-mines, they would have stood a better chance.

It helps if you understand the rules of the game! ;)
You have two sides, one out in the field and one in.

Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out.

When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side thats been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out.

Sometimes you get men still in and not out.

When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in.

There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out.

When both sides have been in and all the men have out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!

Isn't that the Hokey Cokey that you described?

Yeah I went to a cricket game to support my mate once. Both bloody teams turned up in white and nobody brought their away kit so they abandoned the whole thing.

Wouldn't mind so much but I went all the way down to Kerry for it.

Thought both teams still *could* play in white (I've certainly seen it happen)? All of which just re-emphasises the pointlessneed of the sport I guess.

Sorry OP for raining on the match but best leave sports in the Sports section.
Hope a selection of cucumber sandwiches and a spot of tea will settle your nerves.
