    http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/cult/s9/24/news/a202212/fox-confirms-europe-set-24-movie.html
20th Century Fox has confirmed plans to make a 24 feature film set in Europe.
The studio has contracted Billy Ray (State Of Play) to write the movie, which will see Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer face enemies outside of the US.
The Bauer character has previously left Los Angeles to take on missions in Africa (in TV movie 24: Redemption) and New York (the currently airing season 8).
The 24 TV team will be involved in the big screen spinoff, with Sutherland, series creators Robert Cochran and Joel Surnow, and current showrunner Howard Gordon executive producing. The movie is expected to proceed when the TV show comes to an end.
Sutherland has previously voiced his desire to make a 24 film in Europe, telling DS last year: "It's something that we've always talked about because I think the fantastic thing about Europe, for something like 24, is that it's very feasible to get from Prague to London in the course of a day."

I take it that Jack survives the current season then?

It seems that way, unless it's some sort of prequel.

    From digispy
Kiefer Sutherland has revealed that a 24 movie franchise will be launched now that the series has been axed.
The actor confirmed that a feature film and sequels are in the works, with the first taking Jack Bauer outside of the US.
"The film will be a two-hour representation of a 24-hour day, so all of a sudden, the restrictions of the real-time aspect are lifted. Which is huge," he told Total Film.
"To put it in context, in the series, every crisis had to come to us, because we couldn't move. Who wants to see Jack Bauer sit on a plane for four hours? But in the format of the film, it will be very feasible to go from Eastern Europe to London in the space of 24 hours, so all of a sudden there is so much more latitude. The skies have opened up!"
The final season of 24 is currently airing on Sky1 in the UK and Fox in the US.

Kiefer Sutherland has revealed some further details about the upcoming 24 feature film.
Speaking to IGN UK, Sutherland said that writer Billy Ray had completed movie's script a few weeks ago.
The star said the film would most likely cover a 24-hour time period, but the film's running time will be no longer than two hours.
Sutherland also hinted that the plot could possibly mirror the show's first season, giving Jack Bauer a personal crisis to deal with.
"It doesn't have to be a bomb," he said. "It can be something personal that people understand."
20th Century Fox has yet to announce a production start date for the theatrical project.

    Hmm a series
    Digitalspy
Kiefer Sutherland has revealed that he is excited about working on a series of 24 movies.
Sutherland, who plays Jack Bauer in the television show, explained that the prospect of a film version made it easier for him to deal with the programme's cancellation.

"One thing that is stopping this [finale party] from being a very sad night for me is we're all going to be working together on the films," he told E! Online. "I don't have to say goodbye to Jack Bauer just yet."
Sutherland added: "[The movie is] going to be a real fresh start for us. It'll be the first time we're not doing it in real time. The film will be a two-hour representation of a 24-hour day, which alleviates the writers of the responsibility of writing in real time, which is unbelievably difficult."

The actor also revealed that preparations for the first 24 movie are going well.
"We just got a screenplay, we're working on that," he said. "It's in the proper stages and we can start to hopefully put together a production schedule... We've got our fingers crossed."

I have to say, without the obstacle of writing relatively believable real-time plots, I'm expectin an EPIC series of movies!

I wonder if the films will reference back to the TV series as much as each new season does to the earlier ones

I can see films creating new interest in the TV series

Maybe he'll be here to try stop the Hadron Collider! :P

Cant wait for the movie!!!! *squeals like a girl*

They better most of the elements from the show like the clock every 15-20 minutes, a big split-screen at the end, Jack saying Dammit at least 10 times,
    the same Composer etc..

I wonder what Jack will say at the very start of the movie
"The following takes place between 10 am and 10 am" ???

They'll probably do it like Redemption, minus the ad breaks.

No its gonna be a 2 hour representation of a 24 hour day. Kind wish it was longer to be honest.
