Advice on new cassette

    Hi,

I've just purchased a set of new wheels and now realise that i should probably purchase a new cassette also. This means i can keep the old cassette on the old wheels and use for spinning or whatnot.
Currently running a HG-50 Tiagra 9 speed cassette.

Just want to know if it's possible to "upgrade" to a 10 speed cassette and still use the existing shifters (tiagra) etc without any hassles?
I presume that this should be fine and all i'll need is to do a bit of adjusting on the gear cable?

No, it won't work at all.

    You need another 9-speed cassette.

    Thanks guys.

    Note to brain.... never presume!!
Actually, makes it easier - have a 9 speed cassette on both wheels so no need for any adjusting if switching wheels then.

Even with a 10 speed cassette on a 9 speed drive train you will still only have 9 usable gears. Plus, the wider chain will not run as smooth (if at all, I've never run x-speed chains on y-speed cassettes), so in the end you are paying more for an imperfect solution for what? A few grammes in weight?
