Court Calendar

    Hello,

Could anyone tell me when the courts 'close' for summer holidays? (or direct me to a court calendar).

Also, we have a progression hearing in the Family Court (divorce case) later this month and it's expected that a date will be set for the divorce hearing (assuming that we can't come to an amicable settlement in the meantime). I was just wondering who sets the date for the divorce hearing; the judge? If the hearing coincides with my holidays, can I ask for it to be changed?

    Thanks in advance.

    Har

End of this term is 26 March. Easter Term is 12 April to 20 May. Trinity Term is 2 June to 31 July. That is in respect of most High and Circuit Court actions. District Courts don't all observe those dates.

Judges basically fix hearing dates. If you are to be abroad, make sure you tell the Judge this, and it won't go on in your absence.

Thanks Reloc8, I will tell the judge at the next hearing that I'll be out of the country for 2 weeks in August and hopefully he'll work around that.

    Thanks again,
    Har

No problem - you should be fine - most things are indeed shut down for August anyway, especially non-urgent matters.

There will be no Circuit Courts family lists during the long vacation 31 July- 4 October, so there is no danger of having your hearing scheduled during August.
