    Hi,

I ordered center caps on ebay as they were stolen off my own car believe it or not. Anyway, the ones I ordered arrived and are loose fitting, and they dont clamp into the alloy wheel. The center clip on the back of the ordered caps is about a milimeter short in diameter. Bloody annoying. Do center caps have part numbers? I know I dont have the correct caps in this case.

    cheers.

Yes they do and it would help to know what make, model, year and wheel size you have!

a DIY solution is to wrap a few layers of insulating tape around the outside of the cap and shove it back in. If the caps are black and you use black tape, its not even noticeable.

I would say it's either your centre caps or your alloys are not originals and so wont match. If you have originals go to main dealer, very difficult to get others to fit correctly, usually a couple of mm out.

Very annoying to have someone swipe them from your car. Even more annoying when you buy them online and theyre not fitting right, if you have original wheels and the caps you bought were listed as fitting original wheels i would send a message to the seller and see what can be sorted.

I would imagine a replacement set of caps from a dealer could be pricey?? Also I'd hold off on putting them straight back on for a few days or a week incase the same person swipes them again!! May sound odd but I have seen it happen!

The ones I got are identical to the previous ones. They came from Hong Kong. I tried putting insulating tape in the inside of the cap to tighten up the grip of the clip on the alloy wheel but its not 100 % fully secure and will probably fall out when driving at higher speeds.

Just realised that I have ordered the wrong part number. The ones I ordered are the 4B0601165A which are plentiful all over the internet. The previous ones I had on my car were 4B0601165C. I had a spare one of these which fits correctely. All my alloys are the same by the way. I cannot find anywhere on the net a site that sells the 4B0601165C ones I need.

    cheers

saw that, earlier on but there was no way I was going to pay that money. It worked out as £80+ for 4 caps and shipping and packaging included. What a rip off.

    price is mad
they should be around 20e for set

    but what can u do?

have a try at main dealer, maybe will be a bit cheaper but to be honest from my experience dealers are most expensive, but u wont pay for trying them ;)
