Easy fix only a few moving parts in there. and then you could fit a few extras.

Is that a RO 80 engine? You own one? Tell us more about the extras :D

Rotorhead, I had a long drive in an RO80 the night they were launched. A real look into the future. Head ruled over heart and I got married instead of buying one. I really, really, really want to know more about what you have done.

Yes buried under all the extras is nsu rotary engine. The car belongs to a Dutchman. He did all the mods himself. The car is converted to run on LPG (still cheap in Holland) The extra parts include fuel injection system and a modified oil metering system for the rotors. Attached photo is normal engine bay.Photos taken at NSU international Treffen in Germany last year

They're a lot harder to do than the mazda one though...you need special tools for re-building too...;).

I like RO80s,would it be much hassle to put an RX8 engine in one i wonder, for modern reliability?Or have they got the rotor seals sorted in the originals now?

The rotor seal problem has been solved.
You can buy a fully reconditioned engine or a repair kit from several companies in the UK.
You can also buy a Mazda 12b engine modified to fit the Ro80

I'm sure Rotorhead will explain it in more detail later :D

"What are the little gauges for?"

Cant say for sure, did'nt get a chance to talk with owner, at a guess I would say vacuum and fuel pressure

"I like RO80s,would it be much hassle to put an RX8 engine in one i wonder, for modern reliability?Or have they got the rotor seals sorted in the originals now?"

I dont know if anyone has done an Rx8 conversion ,I think it would be a major headache as you need all associated electronics etc

There were many conversions done over the years , ie ford V4, V6, Audi 100, the problem is space as the rotary engine is quite small and you need to retain the gearbox because of the inboard disc brakes.

As Quatro777 said the most successful conversion was the mazda Rx7 (non turbo version) pic attached.
The seal problem was solved but too late to save the car combined with bad publicity ,high fuel consumption and mid seventy's fuel crisis .

Attached is a few more interesting pics

No not a factory car. It is a one off by Simon Kremer BSc. of Rotechnics. He also produced a conversion kit to fit the mazda engines to the Ro80. This coupe
design and the one from Norway were base on an original drawing by the designer of the Ro80 Claus Luthe. This car is shorter by about 6 inches. The Norway one is full length. The car was also for sale in 2008.
