CA MP5A4 flashlight questions

    Maybe someone can help -
I want to replace the 6V bulb (blown) in the flashlight but would like to put in a slightly higher voltage bulb and possibly an alternative to halogen if suitable.

I am wondering what type of bulb / format should I be buying which will fit the lamp please?
Been looking on ebay and there's a clatter available but not sure which will actuall fit. Anyone gone any experience/advice with replacment options?

Here's one I was looking at:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Q5-CREE-LED-250-Lumens-bulb-4-Surefire-6P-9P-torch_W0QQitemZ220326835133QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Flashlights?hash=item334c80b3bd

Looks like it might work, operates at various voltages but unsure if it will fit ok.

Also - anyone got suggestions of what to use as a lens protector - any aftermarket products or diy jobs?

    Thanks in advance

That should work just fine. Use the normal cr123a batteries :) that variance is basically 'dont go over 12'

You can get lens protectors, some are clear, some not, and they tend to flip open... look for surefire p6 compatable lens covers/ filters on ebay :) will fit

Or, you can cut a disk of perspex and glue it over, but ive never seen a torch light fracture... the lens is often plastic or perspex in itself, unlike glass lenses on optics, it has some give which stops the bb fracturing the surface.

A disk cut from some old cheap lab style shooting glasses and glued on, or put inside one of the coloured filters with that removed should do you fine :) it will also be balisticly rated.
    Hope this helps :)
