Wasn't it the first race in the IRC this year?

The Monte is as amacachi said the first rally of the IRC. The organisers decided not to run the rally in the WRC because the WRC changed the structure of rallies a few years ago and took the Monte out of its heartland of stages and had to conform with centralised services and short stages with minimal milage between stages. The ACM felt that they would be better suited to join the IRC last year(during its 'off year' from the WRC) and go back to night stages and some of the classic stages that made the Monte such a great rally. They feel that the IRC gives them better value for money and its hard not to agrue with that.

To be honest I doubt that there are too many rally fans who feel the sport is best served by the format of the WRC and the rallies that are run. I know that I would prefer to see the traditional rallies like the Safari, 1000 Lakes, Monte and GB run in their original structure with long stages and in the case of the RAC-ran all over Britain with night stages. If the WRC brought back the format of these rallies it would improve the spectacle and bring it back into line with what made rallying great, instead of trying to compete with Formula 1 and implementing the changes they have made

    do eurosport do it?
Also is there somewhere I can get it online M.C. rally that is now that I missed it :(

During the rally they had every stage Live on eurosport except 1 stage... It was great we got all the action as it happened.. Night stages and every thing..

Meeke crashed out on day 2 which was a disappointment..

The next IRC rally is from Curitiba on the 4th-6th of March. Its a double header with the WTCC and Eurosport have said they will show all of the rally live again except for the stage that clashes with qualifying for the touring cars

Was the "Circuit" of Ireland announced as a support rally for the IRC recently? Any chance it might return to its original (and best) format??
It would be ideal. I mean it ran the lenght and breath of the country when compeditors couldn't afford it, and when they could afford it, it turned into poor relation of a rally. IRC is turning out to be even better than WRC and could very well take over from it in popularity!

Yeah the circuit has been taken on as an IRC supported event. It wont run in the IRC anytime in the future but will increase its exposure by being linked with the championship. Hopefully in time the IRC will look to bring it onto the championship because the neutered circuit is a joke. Its the circuit in name only and it badly needs to get back to its roots and be run as a full rally throughout the country....to hell with the past issues of road closures etc!
