I'm just wondering if those grades/levels are in JKD or individual levels under say Arjarn Chai for the Muaythai.

i started late in thai boxing at the age of 28 im 37 now under Gary flaherty who was an instructor under frankie mcconville, i trained under him for nearly two years then he closed his clubs in newry and castlewellan co down. in that time i was a member of the world thai boxing council and to be honest i didnt get much out of it as regards gradings ,seminars or fights. to me there wasnt much happening in northen ireland within the thai boxing circuit. So i looked elsewhere. since my first encounter with muay thai i have been very passionate about it ive been training in martial arts since i was 13 and it was on my travels that i met rab mclaughlin in scotland rabs thai boxing history spans from 81 to 96 in which he was trained and by master toddy, woody and sken Ive a list of his thai history. this was also confirmed to me by rick young durning
a one to one training session i had with rick in 2005 and it is rab who graded me in thai boxing. due to an industrial accident rab has stopped teaching i think hes in his mid fifties now. so over two years ago ii started training under mike and steve krause who through there own training under guru dan had to train under arjarn chai as part or dans instructor programme and these drills and training methods have been taught to me by mike and steve all my jkd levels come from krauseworld academy glasgow. to be honest im a crosstrainer and since i have trained with mike and steve i have seen that the jkd training has moved me forward as a martial artist and enhanced my thai boxing and develop a greater understanding of it. now i have no secrets i hope this helps

Thai boxing doesn't have any official grades, but some clubs use an in-house grading system. If you're listing your credentials to the public, just give your fight record and the names of anyone you've coached who did well in competition.

I dont think you read the question that was asked to me doug
first all grading weather karate jujitsu ect you name them are all in house gradings.
all martial arts associations are self governed there is no goverment established martial arts association. if you call yourself the world international thai kick karate ninja association or the doug club martial arts it doesent matter you are self governed . By the way doug in the 60s thai boxers didnt use the hook punch or the uppercut because they felt that the elbow and knee where a better weapon know they do why? because martial arts has moved on in the words of my instructor steve krause someone who is confident in there own ability has knowthing to hide and as i said before im a JKD Martial artist not just a Thai boxer have a nice day

Many martial arts (Judo, BJJ) have established ranking systems and organisations that supervise promotions and grades. In Judo, it's more official with national governing bodies, continental organisations, and international organisations that recognise these promotions.

In BJJ, gradings are peer/community regulated. Nobody can award themselves a Black belt in Judo/BJJ without being exposed for this trickery.

You say you are a Black Belt in Muay Thai. None of the Muay Thai clubs I am aware of in this country or in Thailand (open to correction) use a belt system. Why do you say you have a 3rd degree black belt?

Pretty rapid rise through the ranks, you got a 3rd degree black belt in < 9 years training.

Like I can appreciate someone making up their own martial art "Madeup Jujitsu". And then making them self a 3rd degree black belt, but Muay Thai isn't a made up martial art, it's a long established martial art with transparent organisation structure.

well sid my my students ask me how long does it take to be a black belt and i give them the answer above. i have met black belts 2nd 3rd dans who are so full of there own importance and single minded that they cant see martial arts beyond there own noise.
like doug your missing the point this thread is about jkd and for anyone who is teaching the system to list there names so people can get in contact about jkd
i was asked a question about my grades so i answered it truthfully. but il put this throught to you, a student who wants to train like a fighter but does not want to fight would you make him an instructor or not
as to why i a third degree in thai its simple there are those who follow and those who lead i dont sit a wait to be told what i can and cant do. you dont know me sid but if you did you would understand where im comming from remember with your ying you need your yang

You speak a lot of garbled nonsense.

You don't supply an adequate explanation for the invention of a belt structure in Muay Thai. Judging by the websites of your trainers I conclude that you use the belt structure to self-promote and exaggerate your abilities.

Having said that, I've no basis to judge your skill as a Muay Thai practioneer or your effectiveness as a Muay Thai coach. I'd have to see footage of you, or your students in action to do so. By the sounds of it, you've never competed in Muay Thai. Perhaps I am incorrect in that presumption.

Was the creation of a belt system in JKD Bruce Lee's idea? I would have thought such a artificial and superficial system would not have been to his liking.

    What is this exactly ?
Phase three level two in jeet kune do

    A yellow belt?

    Thanks for the chat joe
