Two acclaimed songwriters from different backgrounds have teamed up and will be playing a rare Irish tour next month. Both are singers in their own right, but they have been performing and writing together the last few years since getting married in 2006.

Wreckless Eric's songs ("Whole Wide World", "Broken Doll", "The Final Taxi") have been covered by singers as diverse as Gemma Hayes, Cliff Richard, and The Proclaimers (not to mention comic actor Will Ferrell's character in the film 'Stranger Than Fiction'.)

Amy Rigby was a songwriter for hire in Nashville after releasing many of her own singer/songwriter albums coming out of the New York pop scene. Some of her more quotable song titles include "Are We Ever Going to Have Sex Again?" and "Dancing With Joey Ramone". Her songs have been covered by artists such as Ronnie Spector, Laura Cantrell, and Maria Doyle Kennedy.

"Performing Songwriter" magazine called them “ ...two certified eccentrics [who] conjure up [songs] with eerie atmospherics, limber arrangements and rambling, gently cushioned melodies.”

Eric and Amy will be on RTE 1's The View on Tuesday, 9 March, and will be playing live in Cork, Dublin and Belfast later that week.

Eric and Amy get the Irish Times treatment today - "mavericks under the radar" etc.!!
