just wondering what the thoughts on the board were regarding SFP post 2013. Are we better sticking with the current format or moving to a flat rate payment. The historical reference seems unfair to new entrants to farming as current activity is likely to have changed on most farms in the last ten years. the flat rate payment may be unfair also as it may reduce payments on the bigger holdings. Any Comments

Its annoying not knowing what it is based on, just the luck of the draw in mid 2012, ifa or teagasc mentioned a 20% reduction, the historical basis for calculation is being abandoned apparently, i cant see Ireland doing well with the additional member states coming into consideration especially now with a Romanian agricultural commissioner overseeing the process.

Its hard to know, it might benefit me as i only took on the farm a couple a year ago in my own right and whatever f***ing about went on with the oul uncles before the entitlements ended up lost and i couldnt afford t buy any so on the back of th national reserve i have a few but buck all really. I have good acerage which may be good but the bulk is mde up of commonage, commonage may not count in this new arrangement or count for very little, i have a feling it could be calculated on forage area thats why the sfp this year they are looking for all deductions to be made and lands properly classified as forage etc.
