    Hi,

I am new to photography and I have just got myself a new lens for my Nikon D3000. My bag is now too small for my needs and I am wondering can anyone recommend a good quality and safe backpack that I could use for walking/cycling around with my camera. I have the Nikon D3000 with the 18-55 kit lens and also the 55-200 lens with lens hood.. A few cleaning accessories and 2 filters. My 'centon' bag which came fre with the camera is not big enough for all my stuff. I was looking at this one from http://http://www.jessops.com/online.store/products/74278/show.html

Any thoughts? My budget is around €80 max at the moment.

This is a very secure style of bag for walking around as the bag has to be taken off to gain access. I have the 400 version myself and am very happy with it. Lots of clips on youtube of it.

    Check out adverts,

There is generally some good examples.
Advantage is you are not paying full retail and if you are not happy, you can move it on or part exchange.

Ive been through 7/8. I have settled on two.
    Lowepro stelth reporter 200AW
    Lowepro Nature trecker II AW.

I will be moving on my Lowepro daypack backpack if you are interested.
I havent put the add up yet, but can give you first shout at €50.

Im away till Friday and will be putting on adverts over weekend.

    Cheers

Have the LowePro Slingshot 100 myself and find it does the job nicely. You can get it on ebay for about €60

I'm liking the LOWEPRO MINI TREKKER AW at the moment.

Capacity, size & features are bang on.

Picked it up on eBay.co.uk for something like €70 notes delivered.

I ordered one of these from China on ebay for €50+free shipping and it arrived slashed by customs. Worthless. Seller agreed to send me another if I returned it and now they won't get back in touch. Frustrating stuff altogether, I'm down a Christmas present and have to go buy the blasted bag again somewhere.

    I ordered mine from Canada.

Out of interest: did customs slash it deliberately for some reason or accidently whilst opening the package for inspection?

Try following up with the seller on ebay, most are terrified of negative feedback.

I dunno customs policy but the bag was only wrapped in a plastic wrapping so them slicing it open = them slicing open the bag. As the post office advised me, they area law unto themselves and no complaint would be listened to or get me anywhere.

I ordered it mid november, arriver late november/early december. seller agreed to replace if I sent it back so I did. Given it was near christmas I allowed plenty of time before getting back to the seller to ask if they got it since I heard nothing. they kept saying no. It got to the point where I mailed them photo evidence of the damage and again a copy of the postal receipt. From this point on they ignored me. Seemingly because I had now passed the Paypal and Ebay point of no return, couldn't dispute it or claim money back.

It's very frustrating as now I'll have to waste money again on a bag, I desperately need one. I was tempted to bid on something else by the seller and not pay up and leave negative feedback but I could get screwed over just as much.

    Don't buy off Wendy108 people.

    I use the Slingshot 300AW. It fits all of this in it;

I will probably change it soon though as I'd prefer the proper ruck sack straps and I'd like the option of adding a 17" laptop as well.

I have the Fastpack 350 and it comfortably holds a 17" laptop, 2 camera bodies, 4 lenses, a flash and various bits and bobs. You can even carry a tripod under the flap on the back if you like. It's very well put together and provides decent protection.

My only minor gripe is that you have to take the backpack off in order to get to the camera, though that's generally an issue with backpacks versus over-the-shoulder bags.

Any problems taking that on board with Ryanair?

Can't comment on Ryanair, but I've had my 350 on a load of planes, including under the seat in front of me on a Lufthansa CRJ-900 (only two weeks ago). You need to put it "on it's back, and head first" under the seat. Don't expect to be able to get your feet in there as well :) If you've alot in the front pouch, under the flap, it might not fit. In the overhead bin, no problems.

    Have ordered one.

I recently bought the Amazon Basics backpack. Great value at £20-ish and fits everything I need to carry. :)
