window tinting

i was going to get my car tinted, untill i came across a few problems, the guy in the shop mentioned that the laws have chnged and now you can only have 65% tint on the front windows, thats very light and i was thinking more like 20% all round,

does anyone know when the laws were changed on this?

also the car i drive has these dots around the glass, and when the tint is placed on there is a white stripe of bubbles around the tint, needless to say it looks s**t, i was told you can sand them down a little bit and it will help, but is there any other way of getting around this happening?

i seen a different type of tint on the net that you place the tint on both the inside and outside of the glass, im sure that will have some coverage on the bubbles, but i cant see it working in ireland..

if anyone has other ideas or has fixed it themselves, some help would be great!

    Thanks

Do a search on here, the laws have never changed its always been illegal to have heavily tinted front windows.

Its just that it is now being enforced by the Gardai on the road side and will become part of the NCT test also.

Darkened front windows provide both a security and safety risk, if Gardai cant see who is in a car it presents a risk to them and darkened windows no matter what anyone says do limit your ability to see out.

I personally think its about time it was enforced not only for the above reasons but in my opinion tints also look crap, they make a car look cheap and tacky and factory tinted glass thats an option or standard from the manufacturer would be my only choice

oh i dont disagree, it is a safety risk for them and it is a bit awkward driving at night with say fog or heavy rain, but i need a dark(ish) tint on my car for privacy,
its only really for the back seats, but cause the front doors are so big you can easily see into the back...
i dont want them like limo black thats just stupid, i was thinking more along the line of say 20% all round or at the lightest say 40% on the front but it looks c*ap with the windows 2 colours!

my car already has a very feint blue tint for uv rays etc, the car is never as hot inside as others when we get a little sunshine in the summer, its great but i need it for privacy, only other option is to cover the back end like with a commercial car, but i need the seats....

im going to a tint place later to see what my options are,
like shade wise and to see how dark 65% actually is.

i did also see this tint somewhere, its actually very very clever,

its like those glasses that change shade with the sun (uv rays)..
the brighter it is, the darker the tint goes, but it also means that at night you only have a medium/light tint because there is no sun rays. AND if some1 happenes to try shine a light into the car it will change tone so they cant see in!! genious! :D

Not sure how much it is or if its even legal etc,
    but its worth a look!
