    Am I missing something?
I got the above and I plugged it in, connected my mobile broadband to it and ensured that the wireless was on.

Then I tried to go to http://192.168.2.1 on a few occasions. It worked once, then crashed and it wouldnt work after that. Shouldnt I be able to connected to that address easily or am I missing something?
If I go to wireless connections, I can see the network named default.

Also in the wisard, do I use the APN "internet" and what username and password do I use?

I also tried using the software that came with it but when it comes to "test" connection, it just returns "Check your connection" but I am certain I have it all connected.

    Your help is greatly appreciated

    Hi Guys,

Please someone help....this is driving me mad. I think I nearly have it but I just dont know what to put in this part....see photo attached. Its mobile prepay broadband so i think the APN is "internet" (or is it "hs.vodafone.ie") but what is the username/password??? Do i leave it blank?

Also up to this point, I dont have the vodafone dongle connected to the router, is this correct?

    Please help....

Right guys....I'm ready to fire the router out the window
So I updated the modem software last night and did all the settings as

PIN: last 4 digits of phone number
    APN: hs.vodafone.ie
    Username: vodafone
    Password: vodafone
    AT Dial Script: *99#

But still no luck..is the pin Code definately the last 4 digits of my telephone number??

I'll just go through the steps of what I do and someone might tell me if I am missing something.
    1. Plug in router....I dont have it connected to the PC or I dont have the vodafone dongle in the USB
    2. Connect to the router on my PC and then by using 192.168.2.1 I input all the above settings under
    quick setup oftion
    3. Then I connect the vodafone dongle to the router and wait till the blue lights come on the router
    4. I then try to reconnect to the router but it never lets me....I just just cant get reconnected until
I take the vodafone dongle out of the router.

My settings for TCP/IP are all correct I'm pretty sure.

I've also tried using the cd quick setup that came with it but when I get to the "test part"....it tells me to "check my connection".

    Its really becoming frustrating

Ok i had the same problem with the Edimax 3G-6200N until i realized there was something stopping it from working in my house i did not know until i changed the router!

First off all make sure you have nothing interfering with it! eg. In my case i had a SKY transmitter in my sitting room sending signals to my box in the bedroom for watching Sky there i had to unplug this for it to work.

Plug modem into router before you start.

    192.168.2.1

    Try this

    PIN: 0000
    APN: hs.vodafone.ie
    Username: vodafone
    Password: vodafone
    AT Dial Script: *99#

    This worked for meicon7.gif

What a disaster of a story for me :(

A buddy has the same router and vodafone dongle. Only difference is that he is on bill pay and i am on prepay.

So I connected my computer to his router and his dongle no problems. Surf the net with no problems.

The I connected my vodafone dongle to his router. I couldnt connect to the internet. I could connect to the router.
The I connected his vodafone dongle to my router. I couldnt connect to the internet. I could connect to the router.

So I'm thinking both the dongle and router are fecked!! :(

I looked at my buddies settings and all he has is that the APN is hs.vodafone.ie. Nothing else in settings!!

I also tried the PIN 0000 as suggested above and didnt work.

So I'm still with no wireless router working. I rang vodafone and they could do nothing for me. So I ring edimax and they have told me that my dongle which is K3765 is not compatible with the router. Can anyone confirm this? Is yours a different model hotwhiskey?

It is a different model my dongle is K3520. I had the same problem but i kept going back to the store where i got my router and changing it until i got one that worked in the end it was a Intellinet router. You have two options do what i done or ring Vodafone and ask can you change the dongle to suit your router.

Yeah i think the older models of the dongle are compatible but the newer ones are not :( Gonna try O2 to see if I can sort it out......

Got a loan of a O2 Compass 888. Using APN as open.internet but alas not working either on the router :(

After much playing around with the 2600N, I got it working. Thanks to all the posters to this forum for your advice.

Basically, the 2600N does not seem to currently support the K3765 which is the latest range of 3G modems from Vodafone. Here's what I did to get it working:

    1. Upgrade the firmware to v2.12.
Note that on the "upload" of the firmware, this can actually hang the router. Do a power-cycle of the router and try again until you get a statusbar showing 1-100% upgrade and this should do the trick. You'll know if it worked as the interface has changed and the home page will show the IP address 192.168.2.1 and v2.12

    2. Replace the 3G Modem. I had an old 3G router from last year hanging around the office so I took the SIM card from the K3765 and put it into the E220 (the older type). This modem needs a cable to connect to the router (one of those large to small USB cables). Pull the power from the Edimax, connect the LAN cable to the PC/Laptop, plug back in the Edimax and let it power-on. I noticed this was the first time the LED for 3G was blinking (blue) instead of just staying on. Also, going to the router config (192.168.2.1) and clicking Status, Modem - it shows me the model of the 3G router and other details which didn't appear when I had connected the newer 3G modem.

    3. Enter the 3G Modem details
You'll need to log into the modem config (browser, 192.168.2.1, login as admin). The PIN code seems to be the PIN of the SIM. I could be wrong here but I reset the PIN to "0000" (tested this with a direct connection via vodafone's s/w) and this works. If it was the PIN for vodafone then it would be the last 4 digits of your CUSTOMER number not your phone number but either way, the 0000 worked for me.

APN: hs.vodafone.ie and AT Dial Script: *99# - leave username, password, verify all blank and service: 3G/3.5G Only.

    4. Test the connection
Go to www.speedtest.net and test your connection speeds. Seems to me that the E220 is a bit slower than when I connected the K3765 by about 1mb/s but I can cope as long as the router works.

    5. Set up wireless
Go into the setup again and set up your wireless settings for your network, disconnect the lan cable (no harm to do a reboot of your PC just to flush out the previous LAN connection) and open up your favourite website.

Worked for me. Possible that the next generation of firmware updates by Edimax might support the newer modems.

    Hi all,

I'm a dutch guy on holidays in Ireland.

This morning in Cork I bought the Edimax 3G-6200n and a Vodafone USB dongle K3765 with a prepay SIM. I'm here for holidays, but I always need internet!

It didn't work, even after installing the latest firmware update I found on the support pages of www.edimax.com (v2.16).

Now it became a challenge, so I kept on looking for a solution. After some time I funny enough  found a support page with more current updates for this product on a different website which didn't show up using Google:
    http://www.edimax.co.uk/en/support_detail.php?pl1_idSelect=support.php%3Fpl1_id%3D1%26mwsp%3D1&pl1_id=1&pd_id=299&button=Go

There's a firmware version v2.19 available which supports most newer USB dongles including the Vodafone USB dongle K3765.

After updating the firmware the router restarted, but acted strange. After giving an extra power off-on it was functioning normally.

In the 3G setup page of the Edimax webbased admin tool (http://192.168.2.1) I only had to fill in:
    - APN: hs.vodafone.ie
    - Service: 3G/3.5G ...blabla...
    - AT dial script: *99#
then 'Apply', after restart it worked!

I hope this post helps you guys too!

    Best regards
