Three Times Kung Fu Champion to address NUI Galway Christian Union Society

On Monday 8th February, the Christian Union Society of NUI Galway will host Tony Anthony, three times former World Kung Fu Champion and author of the book award winning book 'Taming the Tiger'.The event will take place Monday 8th at 8pm in the Bailey Allen Hall, Áras na Mac Léinn on campus at NUI Galway.
‘Taming the Tiger’ depicts Tony's astounding story, beginning when he was sent to China at the age of four to become a Kung Fu disciple. Here he spent eight hours a day following a brutal training regime, overseen by the Grand Master, his grandfather.

Quickly developing into a Kung Fu expert, he became an elite bodyguard, protecting some of the world's most powerful people whilst also winning the world Kung Fu championships three times. Personal tragedy, altered Tony's sense of extreme discipline and he began to use his skills for illegal means, becoming embroiled in a world of violence, destruction and death.

Eventually incarcerated in the notorious Nicosia Central Prison in Cyprus, Tony hit rock bottom. However, it was here that life took another dramatic change.

Tony will talk about his life and how that change affected him. The event is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
