    hello, would anyone know how long it takes to recieve this payment,my mother suffered a stroke in november,i have been off work since it happened taking care of herself and my father who is on invalidity pension ,i have rang social welfare twice both times they say medical doctors are dealing with it to decide if my parents need care,i had all hospital letters and doctors certs and letter from my employer can anyone give advice please

    They will do anything to put you off have to keep pestering them and ring ring ring all the time. you will be fobbed off unless you put in the time to receiving it i suggest you pester pester them only thing that works

    i have rang them but its the same woman with the same story ,im just stuck in the middle between parents, the boss and hopeing to hear something from social welfare, so that ill be able to give an honest answer to someone, the weeks are just going by getting no where,

    Make a complaint to the Dir.Gen of DSFA. If you get no satisfaction, or indeed if you dont get a reply within a reasonable timeframe, say 3 wks, then complain to the Ombudsman. Bear in mind, though, that the current industrial action by the civil servants almost certainly has a bearing on the speed at which applications are being processed.

    12 Weeks but they back date from the registration of claim

    Are you sure its not carers allowence as benefit uses stamps for 2 years.

    When you rang have you asked for an estimated time in which your claim will be decided upon? Have they indicated at all how long you might be waiting?

    When you ring they tell you 8 - 10 weeks but it nearly always takes 12. I am with the carers association they will give you free infomation on it if you give them a buzz. They have branches all over the country.

    thank you everyone who replied to my question,i rang 3 times last week and asked for estmated time and i asked the ladies name, i just couldnt believe it on friday when i got my fist reply and the social welfare doctors are satisfied my mum needs care, so once again thanks to all
