Apps on a 2G 1.1.3 Iphone

    I have a US Iphone which I used ZIphone to unlock. It has no app store icon on the desktop. Can I get apps by downloading them to itunes and then syncing the phone? There is no chance apps will brick it, is there?

    Strange. I think you are better off upgrading to 3.0 via iTunes and the reunlocking it again by redsn0w. I think ziphone is out of date. Most people use redsn0w to unlock the 2g and iPod touches, including myself.

    When you have 3.0 you have the app store as well cydia.

    Thanks. But to be honest I dont fancy doint the whole unlock thing over again, as the phone is now with the missus, and so she likes it the way it is. Is there no way that I can put apps on it as it is?

    most if not all apps require you be on 3.0+ fw
    you cant but not upgrade to 3.1.3 now, so no safe jb (unless you have stored you hash's at sauriks server) or unlock for that

    your stuck where you are now till the trusty iphone_dev team or geohot come out with a jailbreak and unlock for latest apple firmware 3.1.3 which only came out early this week,
    i dont think you can get apps on your iphone on the firmware its currently on

    Its only people with an iPhone 3GS or iPod touch 3 who did not use Cydia to store their TSS that cannot restore to anything but OS 3.1.3.
    The op can still restore to any firmware he wants.

    its very stright forward. If you backup your the iphone first with itunes you wont lose anything.
