I just played the demo for Theatre of War 2: Kursk (runs like a dog for some reason).

It's bloody brilliant. Pretty much Close Combat 2010. Anybody played this?

    Is it a tank sim?

No its a WWII RTS effectively but very much like the Close Combat series. C&C it most certainly is not. I think its by the same people who did the Combat Mission games.

Check it out at battlefront.com. There's demos available. If you like Close Combat, you'll love this. It's like Company of Heroes with a PHD.

Do infantry still move about like chess pieces like in theatre of war 1? They hadn't figured out how to get them to use cover. It also annoyed me that they moved as individuals.

If any of this is fixed I might give it a go.

Try the demo though. For some reason the game runs like a dog for some people.

On large battles I have to pause if I want to scroll, the performance is so bad. It's not like my GPU or CPU are even breaking a sweat either. Runs fine for most people I think - I haven't managed to figure out the problem.

kowloon - It doesn't sound as though infantry are any different in this (although I'm not sure exactly what you mean)

I mean they stand around like legged vehicles, don't engage with the terrain etc.
You can put all the effort in the world into modelling armour hits, but the game won't feel right when infantry don't act like infantry.
In close combat the infantry tried to keep out of fire and worked in units.
The balance was also heavily in favour of vehicles in ToW1.

Not trying to drag the game down, but the team who made ToW1 look like they changed approach from detail to arcade in the middle of development.
