hi all, just want people to be very vigilant with use of credit card online, not only has this site been attacked recently,,,,,,, my card was to last night,.... i was booking a trip last night online and when i got to final part after inputting details it said "unable to complete transaction" but they said try again or ring a number that was provided- tried both!! but as i got through on the phone to a non national, think it was a chick from india And almost takin over an hour and half she took all details to book and when she got to credit card part she had problems to, so she said she'd ring back... I thought the situation felt quite conspicuous so decided to ring the credit card stolen hot line and explained situation he checked my card asking when i last made transaction, telling him it was atleast a month ago, to my suspicion he came back to say there had been withdrawls in last couple of hours!! first 1 euro then another and another and then the ultimate one of almost 700 euro. So they obviously took small withdrawls first to see if it was authentic and then screwed me!! the withdrawls were taken in paris, so blocked card. Now i was dealing with a reputable dealer EXPEDIA.IE so rang them back to let them know there was a breach in there security, to my amazement when i explained my case the fellow also a non national but easier to communicate with was very polite about situation and put me on hold and got on to there security department to let them know and explain whats up, but when he came back he said "not to worry card will be fully refunded" but again im quite skeptical of this?? nothing works out that easy..... but overall he would not admit a breach of any sort claiming some bank errors and whatever again not irish so hard to understand everything he was sayin. he keep assuring me money will be transferred back although i cancelled card so will be ringing again later to see if i can actually speak to some one who speaks proper english. As i said they would not admit to any breach at all an insisted was some minor errors he also said if i wanted to continue with booking i should not go to expedia.ie for atleast 48 hours and go to expedia.co.uk then he says infact it'l be safer doing it over phone. now if thats not going back over your words and admitting a breach, what is!!!

Dont mean to hijack your thread, but two weeks ago, MBNA rang me at 8pm at night to query a €2.49 charge online. My card hadn't been used in months and they copped it straight away.

    Be alert people.

Paragraphs would help if you'd like people to read what you wrote.
