Surf Folklore

I'm doing a project about the folklore of high risk activities such as surfing and am looking for some examples from Ireland.
If you have any special rituals/customs/beliefs/habits relating to surf, or if you know of any, I would really appreciate it.
Any initiation rites, good or bad luck omens, competition talismans or just strange stories about surfing, feel free to PM me. I just need the content so anonymity is guaranteed.
They can be communal (like the surfing folklore of Hawaii) or personal (a lucky charm you always wear) and they do NOT have to make sense.
    Thanks in advance.

A wetsuit that hasn't been pissed in will not keep you warm. :pac:
