The other day as i was walking out of the arrivals hall in Dublin airport ,i noticed the Security guy sitting on his chair behind his desk where you walk through the doors, fast asleep and snoring his head off

So i was thinking to myself he must have the most boring job in Ireland or can anyone think of a job much more boring that that??

Sometimes I feel like I do. I have to update our website and it's really not that interesting 8 hours a day. The few hours that I have to go cover lunches in some of the shops are a godsend.

i remember working in a firm that had a guy employed to scan documents into the system, all day long, manually scanning documents.

To me that would be insanely boring

Trust me.. Security is the most boring job out there.

Until something happens, then it's the most annoying and stressful.

    I'd say he loves it.

Where else would he get paid to sleep on the job?

    /so to speak...

I walked by a barbershop in Galway the other day, one guy in there absolutely panned out on the seat asleep business must have been hella slow that day! I had a giggle about it later!

Exactly, not a very stressful job, but I'd say he enjoyed his sleep.:pac:

I'd say a checkout operator would find their job boring, just constantly scanning items and making small talk with customers day after day.

I did this for 4 months when i started in an insurance company...9-5....It was hell! I did move onto another department after that, which i enjoy, so it was a steppingstone...i guess

When you're really tired its hard to fight sleep. Your body gives in.
After some long weeks at work I've fallen asleep at the desk or during phone calls. It happens.

But to fall asleep like that security guard is probably laziness. Its not like he spends his days doing a John McClain in Dublin Airport

The most boring job I've ever had was data input. I'd take surveys filled out on a form, and put them into a computer by copying the written one into a survey on the computer. From that job onwards, on all the written surveys I've filled out, I've written little notes to whoever has to put it into a computer.

When I was in junior cert, the commerce teacher told us that the reason bank dockets are all different colours was to make it easier on the guy who has to sort them all out once they've gone through the system, and that this was officially the dullest job you could possibly have.

... Cut forward fifteen years, and having worked in that exact job, I can confirm that it's not that bad, there's great chat in the office.

These guys are ASU, they do the x-ray machines as well so their brains get fried too, worked alongside them for a while. Terrible stuff and it shows, they're all awful narky and antisocial.

I now work in a few places but one of which is a building with 24hr security on 12 hour shifts even on days where the building is totally empty. Has to be the worst ever, and again it shows :P
