Hi! Can't believe it but Zanusi integrated dishwasher is only 5 years old and stopped working last week. Was a burning smell coming from it. We rang the place we bought it and the guy said that 5 years was about the lifespan. I'm flabergasted. Growing up, kitchen appliances lasted 10-15 years and more.
€40 for chap to come and look at it but my experience tells me that this is going to cost a lot of money.
Anyone have similar feedback on Zanusi integrated dishwashers and should I get on to Zanusi or am I waisting my time.

Sure, it'd do no harm getting on to Zanussi alright.

Is it just under 5 yrs or over it, as they have 5 year parts warranty.

You should get over 10 years out of a dishwasher IMO. My previous Asko had 13 years of use on it when I sold it and I could see no reason why it couldn't have another 5+ years more to go.

I hate to say it but the Zanussi stuff is very poor quality. I stay away from their brand where possible. I remember my father saying 20 years ago never to buy Zanussi.

+1 avoid. Have Zanussi dishwasher and washing machine, both around 6 years old now. Have had multiple problems with both. Dishwasher had to be replaced after 2 years fortunately still under guarantee. They have a 5 year guarantee on major parts but it still costs a lot as there's a charge for labour. Will not buy Zanussi again - or Hotpoint, have problems with a "frostfree" freezer that constantly ices up and repair guy's answer was that the freezer needs to be tilted back so that water can drain off. Needless to say that didn't work. His parting shot to me as he took my money was "those frost free things never work".

I have a Zanussi and I had the same problem and I ended opening it and there was a load of dust and grit in a rubber ring behind the drum. It stopped the squitching noise that came out of it and the burning smell, but I still have to push start it at the first spin, after that its not to bad. We`ve had ours for about 7-8 years, its been punched, kicked and its still hanging in there...

my zanussi dishwasher is 5 years, 6 months old, it broken down last and i had to get a new part for it.

my zanussi washing machine is the same age, i had problems with it from the start, there are various cycles i cant use on it, as it sticks. had a engineer out loads and they kept telling me there was not wrong with it and that it was my plumbing at fault:confused:

anyway, dont think i would buy zanussi again, have said that my aunties zanussi washing machine is 25 years old and still going strong.

when i was buying all my appliances i was told the average lifespan was 5 years, so i am just crossing my fingers that they dont all go together.

this year so far i have to replace my kettle and microwave all 5 years old

how many times have people had there car serviced in the last 5 years ? a few times i would bet

now how many times have people had there appliances serviced ? none i would bet

a washer has a lot of moving parts that should be serviced regularly but people dont do it ,they just expect an appliance to sit there and work when you want it too and wonder whats wrong when it doesnt

exact same principles apply to cars and appliances ,moving parts seals bearings grease electonics etc

    food for thought ...............
