Could anyone tell me the procedure for checking the serial no. of a used taylormade golf club. I thought it would be a simple matter but obviously I'm not going through the right format. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

take the number off the hosel and check it with them?if they say it doesn't exist, it's possibly a fake club.

Thanks but I meant how do I get on to the Taylormade website and then check the serial no. I have the no. but I couldn't find where to query the no.

There's a product registration section on their website where you can put in the serial number. But according to them, doing this doesn't validate your product. There doesn't seem to be any way of entering the number on the website so I'd say you'd have to email their support team or call them directly.I'd call them personally, it'd only take a few minutes to call out the number to them and have them check it.

Do you have any reason to suspect they're not legit?

Hi BiffoGooner. Thanks for that. No I don't actually have any reason to doubt them but thought I should check it out just in case. It is on Ebay so that's why I wanted to double-check.

The only way to check is to call TM / Adidas on number +44-1256-479797, say you want to check a serial #, they will put you through their tech support, will advise if serial # is genuine.

This confirms serial # is genuine, not club is genuine obviously.

Sometimes genuine clubs (e.g. from USA or custom purchases) are not in database, so will not get confirmation of if genuine.

If still in doubt, bring along to local pro shop and compare the club head etc. to a genuine one, should be able to spot a fake on close inspection.

Serial # usually on 6 iron hozel - 8 digits.

Similarly for Ping, you can call +44 (0) 1427 – 619228. They will be able tell you/confirm where and when the clubs where first purchased, and the type of club, so if you get this info off seller, then something extra to check.

ALWAYS check on Ebay. Use the usal precautions, as I've bought a good deal of golf gear on Ebay over the last couple of years - do they sell alot of other golf gear (i.e. retailer or private sale), id selling several 3.3. drivers same brand, then could be suspicious esp. if private sale, if retailer - have they a bricks and mortar shop details in their Ebay shop, do they offer refund, good and lots of feedback. Also, you could ask them will they offer full refund, if found to be fake - real sellers should have no problems, the dodgy sellers prob won't respond.

    Good Luck!!

The serial number doesn't necessarily prove anything either. Fake clubs are now being made with serial numbers copied from genuine clubs.

That is true, I emailed TM about this and they told me the only way to verify if a club is real or not is to bring it to an authorised dealer for them to validate it.

Quick question OP - does the grip have a strong smell of rubber, and does the globe logo on the graphite shaft have a line going through it or not?

My guess is that this club isn't purchased yet , just checking in advance.
