Hey I hope someone can help with this.
I'm a named driver with a provisional licence under my father's insurance. His policy says that the 'insured' is entitled to drive another vehicel other than his car. Do I, as named driver, qualify as the 'insured'?

No, "The Insured" means your father only.

For example, my policy includes the following:

    "DESCRIPTION OF DRIVERS
    (a) The Insured
    (b) Any person in the motor trade who is etc etc....
    (c) Any person(s) stated in paragraph 6 of the Certificate of Insurance"

The above implies that a named driver (c) is not the same as "The Insured" (a).
Paragraph 6 of the Insurance Certificate is where any named drivers are mentioned.

    emanresu is quite correct.

"The insured" refers to the policy holder,
    Not to named drivers.
