    Hi,
I moved into a shared acco. on 15th of Nov 2009. The rent was 500. Now I do not know what amount. I payed 500 on 15th Nov and 500 on 15th Dec towards rent till 15th Jan 2010.
What do I enter in the amount of Rent payable in the tax year field on the PAYE website? 750 or 1000 ?

    Thanks

1000 its how much you paid it doesn`t matter about accruals in tax.

I finished working in a job around Sep 09, and now finishing 4th year in college. Around the same time I set myself up on PAYE anytime, and claimed my rent relief. I had never done it before, so I made claims for 2007, 2008 and 2009. I was expecting the full 400e for each of 2008 and 2009, and around 200e for 2007.

But nothing has happened. I was expecting to receive a cheque or something in post at the end of 2009, or to have some acknowledgement or something. So is there some kind of action that I have to carry out in addition to simply claiming the credits on PAYE Anytime?

Did you pay tax in these years? You'll only get a refund of tax, if you've paid tax.

Sorry to state the obvious, but a lot of people thing this is like a benefit, rather than a tax relief.

Put in the total for that year on the Anytime site. Tax year that is. The tax year is no as calendar year.
