    Hi all,

I'm considering buying some powerline adaptors(200mbps) and was wondering what other Boardies experience with them were. Do they work? Are they reliable etc. Which brand is the best? I have a popcornhour C-200 media player and I'd like to stream HD video to it without using wireless. All feedback appreciated:D

I'm considering the Belkin F5D4076uk 1Gb Powerline Adapter but have read mixed reviews, some good but a lot bad!

    Cheers,
    ~livEwirE~

livEwirE I probably wont be of a whole pile of use to you but I had Powerline adapters a couple of years ago on a classic Xbox and did not find them great. They were not 200mbps ones (i think they were 60mbps-not sure though) so that could have been the problem. I was convinced the wiring in my house made a difference as when I had another electrical appliance on like the oven the video sometimes stuttered.

I found this site very useful for info and it has some useful info on powerline adapters

Sorry not be be of more help.

Thanks for that webels, as I said, all feedback appreciated, I'll check out that site. I am not so sure a lot of boardies have much experience using powerline adaptors so your help is appreciated.

No problem, my powerline adapters were Advent (85Mb) ones. I still have that Xbox hooked up but now use Cat 5e cable running through two walls under a door saddle and along some skirting board. This setup will not suit everyone. Best of luck with whatever you go with.

no experience with the power cable adpaters but running cat 5 shouldnt take long and should be a lot cheaper.

Running cat5 not an option unfortunately, will keep researching online and hope for the best :D

I use Powerline units for my Media center and XBox extender connectivity and its the business. Way faster and more reliable than wifi.

I have had those Advent units but had 2 die on me. Have since got Linksys versions as below and all has been fine. Says 100mbit on the listing but it is actually the 200mbit version.

Getting a Linksys media centre extender for the bedroom now and will have another Linksys powerline there.

I'm using these and they work fine for streaming non-HD content - however, uploading files to the popcorn is very very slow, but this could be down to config. I haven't spent a lot of time on that as streaming works fine.

I use devolo 200mbps jobbies and once they were upgraded to latest firmware they are streaming data great....
    BUT
It all depends on your home wiring as I have read about people having problems no matter what brand they try.

Yeah, heard that too BigEejit, I'll probably just buy them from amazon and see if they work, if not, just send them back for a refund :D
