There are about 4 or 5 white evening dresses in TK Maxx in cork at the moment, they cost 130 euro and they would be great for a wedding abroad they are light weight and they are very nice the only thing is they are small sizes I think the biggest is about a 10. I used to work in a bridal shop and we would have charged about 700 for this type of dress.

I've tweeted some wedding dress bargains on my Twitter page http://twitter.com/LisaODwyerphoto

You can find fantastic vintage and handmade dresses on places like Ebay and Etsy.

Do ye know anyone that has ordered from ebay, have just seen the dress I want but its from China, you send over the money and your measurements and they send the dress on then.. Would love to get it but would be worried about being ripped off.

I didn't get mine from ebay but I know a girl who did and it was fab. She got her bridesmaids dresses there too.

I bought mine wedding dress on www.lightinthebox.com and it arrived here on Tuesday. I went with the "send off you mearsurments" package. It is the exact same as the picture and it fits like a glove. I went to a seamtress I know to get my measurements done and brought my dress up to her when it came for a look-through. She said it's flawless :D and I LOVE it... its 1950's style, tea-length, silk dress with a tulle underskirt and a voile embroidered over skirt.

Delivered to my door it was €87 (but it looks like a whole lot more) and took 3weeks from order to delivery. Sure how can you go wrong with that!?

I ordered my wedding dress from a seller on ebay based in China, like the previous poster, I just purchased it and gave my measurements when I was paying for it.

It did take quite a while to arrive, I think I ordered it the start of February and I only received it yesterday. It's gorgeous, I have the luxury of having a dressmaker for a mother-in-law (to be) so she's going to fit it nice and snug for me, but it's pretty spot on already.

I think it cost me something like €120 and the postage & packaging was free.

I would really recommend it, as it stands at the moment it's looking like my bridesmaid dress will cost more than my own. :)

I saw an advert for a charity event called 'wedding dresses for less' in the Newbridge Silverware Centre, Kildare, on the May Bank Holiday weekend, Saturday May 1st and Sunday May 2nd.

They are selling around 200 dresses from lots of different designers like Pronovias, Benjamin Roberts, De Paor, Romantica, Ronald Joyce, Alice James, Margaret Lee, Helen Marina, Paloma Blanca, - at knock down prices.

    For more information see weddressesforless.net

I got my dress this way. I sent on a photo from a bridal magazine along with my measurements. The dress arrived 5 weeks later (volcanic ash not withstanding) and cost a meere €188.37 and is just perfect. This is as opposed to almost 3K & 6 months to make if I has bought in Dublin. I realise this infringes on copyright laws & may be ethically doubtful but so is charging 3K for a dress iykwim.

One tip - get measured by a professional seamstress if you can. I will PM you the website I got mine from if you like.

Good luck with the dress hunt & wedding planning

Tea-length comes just to the knee... Its that whole 1940's, 50's style.

Audrey Hepburn style from Funny Face.

A friend of mine got a wedding dress from here:
    http://unique-vintage.com/
Another girl I know bought her dress there too as the dress my friend got was fab and only about €250. It was perfect, just needed minor alterations but that's the case with most dresses.

I used this website for my bridesmaid dresses, they arrived a few weeks ago and i am really happy with them, the dresses are just below the knee and they have 3 layers in them. They also do wedding dresses.

You would not know bu any chance where I can buy a cheap wedding dress for my sister who'll be 6 months pregnant at the time of her wedding in October. All designs I've looked so far are not suitable for a pregnant bride. I would appreciate any help on this. Thanks

Monsoon at Kildare Village has some dresses at the moment that a pregnant bride could wear. they are under €100 i think

Barnardos in Carlow sell wedding dresses, cheaply, many are end of ranges from designers and have never been worn.

www.sellmyweddingdress.net sells second hand wedding dresses.

Not as cheap as some mentioned but still great value compared to bridal shops.
