I have Ping ISI regular steel shafted irons. I've always said that I'd buy another set of them if I got them at a reasonable price. A friend of a friend is currently selling a similar set but they've got JZ Stiff Cushin Shafts. Is there a big difference between regular and stiff, in this case? I don't know exactly which regular steel shaft I have on my current set. I only know that they are regular and I hit them very well. Would I find the stiff ones difficult to use or would there be little difference?

I have found them to be excellent shafts but the only way you'll know is by trying them out - can you borrow your mate's clubs for a round?

Hi Mirrorball. That's the logical thing to do alright but he lives about 100 miles away and my friend won't see him for a few weeks. But I will try them before/if I buy them. Are your shafts regular or stiff? Are you a strong/fast ball striker?

I have JZ Cushin stiff shafts in a set of ISI-Ks and a set of i3 Blades (I'm a bit of a Ping freak, I've got a set of S58s in the bag at the moment!). As for swing speed, I got the ISI-K irons about 12 years ago when I was a young slip of a thing off 3 and my swing speed was considerably faster. I play off 5 now and my swing speed has slowed (around 110mph with driver), but the stiff shafts still feel fine. A friend used them last season and he plays off 15 with a much slower swing and he loved them too. So I guess, they suit a wide range.
I don't know if any of this helps! If you're anywhere near North Wicklow, you could come and have a wind with the ISI-Ks. I've actually got them in the pro shop at the moment trying to sell them - need to clear some space and budget for the Ping S57s!

    Cheers,
    Peter
