    A flash
    a map appearing in my mind
    the distance of two countries
    I had to put between us
    Ultimate coward that I was
    unable to see through to the end
    the collapse of a reality
    afraid to snuff out the sun
    that bathed us in it's sickly light
    a dying civilization
    destined to perish
    Yet I could not let go
    clung to the false hymns
    I spewed into my mind
    ignoring Galileo as he sat right across
    ignoring the Valkyrie hovering above
    whispering in my ear
    beckoning

    And yet fate smiled upon
    my feeble whining
    and kept the dark
    from rushing in
    So I was not consumed
    for the rest of my mortal live
    left with blood dripping from my inner eye
    and neurons firing in random patterns
    to burn shame
    and questions
    into my self
    Defining the strata
    of existence
    Taking flight
    in a rush of wings
    Plasmatic
    rushing to the sky
    leaving that barren world
    my mind became
    in peace
    devoid
    of
    any
    longing
    but the one
