Xbox Live keeps disconnecting?

I'm having a problem with my connection, I get disconnected from XBL in the middle of games.. at first I tought it was the wireless because I had it connected through the laptop, but I have it connected through the modem now and its still giving me the same problem...anyone know whats causing this? ><
