hi, I am not sure if this is the right forum.
    Direct me if not.
my mate was laid off - she was there 1.5 years so she is not entitled to redundancy. But she was laid off on monday and told she could leave that day and they paid her for the rest of the week. However she reckons she is meant to be paid for 30 days..

She was paid monthly - and there is nothing in her contract about how much she should be paid when she is laid off.
So is she entitled to 30 paid days - and without having to go back to work?

I imagine she is only entitled to be paid for whatever notice period she didn't get, which would be 1-2 weeks and any pay for previous weeks that she was owed. That she might be paid monthly normally is possibly irrelevant.

However, it would be good for her to check things properly. have a look at www.citizensinformation.ie and the Department of Enterprise and Employment have an office on Adelaide Road, Dublin 2 where you can get extra information.

well if she was to hand in her notice she would have to give a month - she sought legal advice and they said she should get paid for 30 days. She went back to her employer and they said that she was right - that she should be paid 30 days (this is after she threatened to take them to a tribunal) but now they asked her to come back to work???
