ACE Assessment

    Hey all,

Just wondering about the online training course for the ACE assessment.

I have completed the pre-requisite course and the Microsoft 2007 update course. i have now received an email allowing me to begin the ACE Learning program 2.1 exam training module for Office 2007. On a quick glance through this, there seems to be loads of modules and tests.

Just wanted to know is it really necessary to do these particular training courses online before i start practicing the exam papers? I'v glanced at the speciman papers provided and they seem straightforward enough if you have an idea at all of computer programs and an accountancy background. Just seems like a waste of time if you already have an good idea of computers.

Has anyone else done these learning programs? Are they compulsory? Are they useful or would I be better practicing the speciman papers?

    Cheers guys

You have to pass the online tests. I skipped tot he end and did all the tests and got 90%+ in each of them.

I got a call from CAI saying that I hadn't completed it - turns out that you have to look at EVERY slide. So I spent an hour at home just clicking "next" in order to be able to sit it. I wouldn't read the modules to be honest unelss theres something you don't understand. You can retake the tests at the end of the modules as much as you want to get your average over 60% so they let you sit the exam.

It's not a big deal really.

You just have to do the initial 5 or 6 sections with the slides and the test, the rest is not mandatory. I wouldn't bother doing anything other than the prerequisite as the sample papers are enough to get you through the exam.

When I done the test this time last year all I done was the specimen papers and that will get you through this exam. What's on those papers will come up in this exam albeit with different figures. Remember all linking, simple presentation and basic formula's will get you through the excel part.

Did the exam in Feb 2010, income and expenditure statement came up for 4 years. Oh and a picture of a 3D graph was given out which had to be replicated. It was all fine though, do the sample papers and you'll be grand.
