Excellent movie! Caught it late last week on Film4 and was gripped from the very start. Two brilliant actors in Vincent Cassel and Jean Reno the lead roles and a fascinating plot! Check it out, 'tis in French btw!
Parisian murder detective commissioner Pierre Niemans is called to Gueron, a self-sufficient, prestigious university in a mountain valley, to investigate the murder on 32-year old professor and librarian Rémy Caillois, whose corps was found 50 meters high on a steep mountain side, naked, horribly covered in bruises and bleeding wounds, the result of some five hours of bestial torture including quasi-surgical amputation of hands cauterized to prevent bleeding to death- and eyes.

Thought this was a very good film. Plot went a bit downhill towards the end, but not enough to ruin it. I caught the sequel a while ago and have to say avoid it like the plague. It's terrible.

Ending did feel slightly rushed but it's still a cracking movie for me, I shall however avoid the sequel!
