ARMA II where to start?

I have played varying different FPS games over the years and the ones I enjoyed most were Hidden & Dangerous, Rainbow Six tactical games (vegas yes, but not to the same extent as others) and Battlefield series. Particularly when the teamwork was there and everything was played for the fun rather than the simulation.

So having read a number of different sites about Arma II. Then reading http://ttp2.dslyecxi.com/ cover to cover, I grabbed a copy and am hoping to play co-op pretty much exclusively to start with.
    - Its not installed yet.

Is ARMA the game I am looking for ?
What can people here recommend regarding start up ?
Should I play through the single player campaign?
Is there a single player campaign ?

If I go online, the Mods you Need thread up there seems a little long. Should I just start at the top and work down, or should I start at the last post and work backwards ?

    Any help/advice appreciated
    Thanks
    Dan

Patch the game to 1.05 and SP is playable, that will help you figure out that Arma needs almost every key on your keyboard :)

Arma can be BF Ghost recon , Raven shield and H and D all in one and at the same time. Its only downfall is CQB isnt great not as well done as Raven Shield or Swat 4 style CQB.

We play ACE a mod which enhances the entire game from giving you morphine to needing earplugs if someone fires a M249 beside you. Most of the time we play small coop games with no respawn (sucks balls if you die 1st).

Loads of SP and training style missions http://forums.bistudio.com/forumdisplay.php?f=86

As far as other mods go take a while to get used to think i have 13 on startup and about 60 downloaded. Get used to the game then get ACE would be my opinion.

This game looks so damn awesome, im a long time player of Operation Flashpoint but when Arma1 came out my pc could barely play it, and with Arma2 there is no chance in hell.
Ever since it came out i've just been looking at youtube videos and dreaming... it looks seriously good, but this is like torture.... And with the ACE mod, my god!!

Seriously as soon as i get a new pc with a better graphics card, im going to be joining you guys on here.... :D

I'm the same, Laptop can handle COD4 but forget ARMA. Much prefer the tactical shooters too.
