Shallow ovens?

    Hi all,

I've a (very old) Baumatic single built-in oven in the kitchen and the element has gone. Now I could replace the element I suppose if I could find one. Or buy a new oven. But there's a problem - a gas line comes up behind the oven to the gas hob and there just isn't enough space for a standard oven.

Standard ovens are 60cm wide and fit into a 55cm deep unit. So most ovens are 54cm deep or so. The baumatic is 45cm + 2cm for the fascia bit and stops about 2cm short of the gas line. Rather odd really...

Ok. I know, the gas line position is dumb but moving it is just too expensive right now (I dread to know how much it would cost to move and recertify). Are there any ovens out there that are this shallow any more??

    Thanks.

A friend of mine got the gas line moved (although there was easy access) and a service of his boiler for 160 euros, if that is any guide for you.

Great! Thank you. Yes, that's a useful guide. And a reminder to get a list of Gas guys from the Bord Gais website before I go home cause I forgot! A boiler service is around the 100 quid mark, our boiler definately needs a check (after 8 years!) and 60 quid will do nicely for the line move. After I remove all the cupboards I guess.
