A bit late with this but thought it was worth posting:
Family Guy‘s 150th episode (an impressive milestone for a twice cancelled show) is planned to air May 2nd 2010 as the penultimate episode of season 8 according to The Futon Critic. In Brian & Stewie: “the pair get locked in a bank vault, they are forced to deal with each other on a whole new level. Unlike any other Family Guy episode, the acts will play out in real time as Brian and Stewie react to being locked in a small space with no baby food or martinis to keep them from losing their minds while they hatch an escape plan.”

Interesting to see how an animated show will work in real time (ie: can they keep the funny going)

Wouldn't it be an awful strain on the animators' wrists? :)

No problem. Cut to ten minutes of Conway Twitty half way through.

... I'll never forgive them for that....

Won't be able to do that. Apparantly this episode will have no cutaways or anything. Just Stewie and Brian locked in a room

Really? That sounds fantastic! I don't mind cutaways sometimes but the crap references really bug me. I'm very interested to see what they do with this one. Sounds kinda like a stage play.

They will obviously start talking about other crap, and then the scene cuts into something random and ridiculous, you know how random Family Guy is!

The main part of the episode is going to have no cut-away jokes.

Meh. Not awful, not great though.

I commend Family Guy for doing something like this. It wasn't the funniest but it was quite interesting. Definitely character building. It felt like it could've lasted the whole ep (40 minutes)...Good job.

I wasn't sure what the hell was going on (didn't realise that was the 150th episode) but I thought it was woeful. Not one bit funny, and the 2nd part with all the singing was crap, especially Shopoopie.

Watched the first 23 minutes... CRAP!

Watched 30 seconds of the singing bit... CRAP!

    /insightful review.

Note to self: Glad I gave up on this show halfway through season 4.

You haven't though, have you? I mean there's been like 4 seasons since then I've bet you've seen more than a few!

I can guarantee you that I have seen one episode since then.

So do you just keep up with what the internet think of the show?

I ask because I stopped watching LOST early in Season 4 and heard great things about the current season (the boards thread says different) so I gave it another go. Seems very unlikely that you would keep up with a show, but not give it a try over at least the last 4-5 years.

Then again, I'm just some guy on the internet; i can't prove you're telling the truth!

I was interested to see how people perceive the show after this many episodes. Is that wrong?

I have no need or want to prove anything to you or anyone else. Why would anybody care about what I am watching?

Just seems very odd. Maybe it's because you just left a negative remark about the show in general without having watched the episode this thread is about. Tis common on the internet but kinda rare on boards.

Not that posting a "note to self" for everyone to see isn't a bit odd...

I actually really enjoyed the 150th - Family Guy managed to tell a coherent storyline and have a concept like characterisation. Very interesting break from the norm. Might've done with a few less songs at the end though (I did like their intro to the Irish song).

I had that song pop randomly into my head last week and it stayed there for days, I think I actually like it at this stage.
