I have been luchy enough to get Springbreak as our wedding band this year. They have also offered to act as DJ's. Has anyone heard or used them before as DJ's? I presume they would play the same stuff as they would when performing live?
Are they worth it or should I look for another DJ?

This goes for anyone hiring a DJ whether with a band or DJ service alone.

A DJ should be able to play any music you want them to play. If they cant, dont have them as a DJ.

I was once asked to play 2 hours of club with a specific hour dedicated to house music by bride and groom, nothing else was to be played, no cheese, no 60-70-80s, no indie, no matter who or how old asked for something else. Thats what they wanted thats what they got. One of the best weddings Ive ever played.

Ring them, talk to them. Tell them genres and songs you would like, give them playlists (doesnt have to be an all night playlist, just a guiding one), and also importantly give them songs that you might not like to hear.

Are they doing a proper dj set rather than the notorious 'mix cd' running while taking down the gear (this isn't so common anymore) and be able to change things around should the need arise.

No one of the guys does Dj himself. I spoke to him after i played after them. Great band and put on a great show.

BUT if you have any doubts hire a seperate vendor.
