I see they are going ahead this year. Heres the catagories,be interesting to see what nominations people on Boards would give. Not really sure about the credibility of the whole thing considering its going to be an assault on Bebo and Facebook inboxes from people to get votes.
I wish they got 5 or 6 respected people from the Dance Music Industry here and let them pick the shortlist or even chose the winners instead of the who has the most friends winning it.

    Best Club (Over 600)
    Best Club (Under 600)
    Best Club Night Promoter
    Best Small Club Night Promoter
    Best Live Act
    Best New Artist
    Best Producer
    Best DJ
    Best Radio Show
    Best Label
    Best Resident
    Event of the Year
    Best Single
    Best Album

This is a sham, you wouldn't ask somebody who hadn't a clue about golf to vote on the player and course or the year, why ask random people from bebo and facebook to vote on Irish dance music awards?

No doubt, the winners of all categories will baffle me.

They should have a panel of experts that makes the final decision, but have a vote from the people to see whats what

usually dominated by trance, northerners or tits with **** loads of facebook "friends"

i dont really have any opinion on the awards themselves but from looking at forums and facebook over the last few weeks and last year, it seems to me that they must be the most unpopular event taking place over the forthcoming weeks and their main man seems to be one of the most unpopular on the scene. something he cant solely put down to his radio voice.

if people want to see irish dance music get some recognition, they wouldnt go too far wrong in voting for a new dance act in the meteors. equally, imo, as shambolic as the IDMA's, but it would be good to see Amasis win it.

Haven't seen the full list of results yet but I heard........
it was all trance again this year.

In my opinion the whole event is just an excuse for Rockwell to headline and to use his stable to "Slick-Dj's" to run an event.

When you think about it, the official IDMA award show should really consist of award nominated DJ's and producers, the best of what the country has on offer. But no, its Rockwell and a bunch of his mates from his DJ agency.
I've always voted and supported Irish talent when possible but i wouldn't waste money on the event itself.

If anyone has any doubt of the credibility of these things, I suggest you listen to this guy rockwell's productions. Hilarious beyond belief.

I did, and i'm off to see the doctor later....
seriously though, when voting is done like this it loses all credibilty-rigged by whoever can muster up the bebo hordes.
Look at the poll for the greatest Irish people of all time-Bono no 1, nicky from westlife...I rest my case
