Unfortunately this fight is purely for money, there is nothing to prove. If hopkins wants a shot at a heavy weight title, why is he taking the fight?

Should get the worst fight of the year candidate.

Yea I'm actually looking forward to this, purely because they are both living boxing legends. The fight doesn't mean anything in relation to the rankings of the various weight divisions the 2 of them have been fighting in the last few years, it's just good to see them finally get it back on.

Yes it would have been better 5 or 10 years ago, but I'll still be looking forward to it.

good excuse to stay up for few cans and a laugh so lets hope skysports pick it up even they are too old men. if hopkins hasnt completed withered away since he beat pavlik, jones wont be goin the distance.

did anyone watch hopkins last fight before christmas and if so how did he look?

More like biggest laugh ever, I can't wait to see the pair of auld b*stards get stuck into each other. I'll be watching this fight come what may, purely for the voyeurism of it as cowzerp said.

B-Hop for the win anyway, can't be much doubt about that.

Hopkins was a bit too big for Enrique .
He looked good as ever to be honest ... and Ornealous gave it loads of heart and effort !

Agree with you guys all bout the money but ill def watch it.
BHop is some athlete. Anyone think he's a late bloomer when it comes to boxing or his solid basics has lasted the test of time?

Probably his style lends itslef to longevity whereas Joner jr's style of boxing cant be maintained at a high level at such an advanced age for boxing.

I would have been a bit excited for this fight if Jones did a job on Green. At least I would have been expecting it to be competitive in favour of Hopkins but you get the impression that Hopkins would take this fight even if lost 10 fights in a row.

yes, it's completely meaningless after Jones losing to Green. if bhop wants to prove something let him fight Dawson, Adamek or Cloud.

You're right. Bhop has achieved so much since fighting at 170-175 but to truely prove himself at this stage he needs to fight Dawson or get on with moving to heavy. Whatever move he wants to make.

Beating Tarver, Winky, Pavlik etc is all brilliant, and again i understand why he is taking on jones, he just wont be happy till he beats him. However he has become this icon fighting into his mid 40's against the best but there is no-one left to fight from lower weight divisions like Pav and Clazaghe. Maybe Williams at 170 if he had come through against Pavlik but aside from that the only way he can improve on his already great achievments is beat a fighter in his prime and that would be Chad Dawson, or else move up in weight.

He is a sure hall of famer already and doesnt need to but he has had all the big fights and the catch weight contest, but he would be remembered as a true legend if at 45 he beat a Chad Dawson. A fighter in his prime in his own weight division.
