Import tax after living abroad

    My brother has spent the last 2 years in the US. He's going to be coming back in October. If he buys a laptop now, will he have to pay import tax?

    I think the rule was 6 months or older for not paying import tax (proof by receipt may be required) when the question was up last time oh 3 months ago. The information should be up on the revenue site or a quick call to their centre; they are very good at helping with questions like this.
