Advice on crash repair

Folks, looking for a bit of advice here. A bit long winded,so appologies.

I was involved in an accident during "The big freeze" and other side took full responsibily,so car was sent to their insurance companies prefered garage, didn't care, just wanted it fixed.Anyway car was in the garage for over 3 weeks and I got a call on Tuesday saying it was ready to be picked up. I went to the garage today and could clearly see it was missing a part off the front, I mentioned this to the rep at the garage and he said its on order and they'll call me.Fine, was in a rush to work so gave the car to the wife and she headed home.

So gets home a she notices some parts missing from the door handles, also she needed to stop for petrol and the cap wouldnt open, she brought the car to a mechanic who had to connect up the petrol cap. Also it was my understanding that when spraying car parts, surely they would blend the paint but No,looks like all the panels had been sprayed and then put on car with the exception of one part, this stands out like a sore thumb. Also left on a damaged alloy.

So questions are and advice needed.
I never signed for the car and told them I would be back to discuss repairs and sign their invoice,I did take a letter from them stating that the car had be Quality control checked which wasn't the case. I'm bringing back tomorrow with intention of leaving it with them, I had a hire car since the accident, would I be entitled to a hire car?as my car was infact not ready for pick-up(missing parts, wheel damaged).I don't want to delay getting my car anylonger but the part missing from the front exposes wires and "is on order" so another week??

Also the car is matt red 2007, what kind of spray job would be acceptable on matching colour, should it be seamless or do I have to accept as is?
And should I contact the insurance company letting them know of my unhappiness and intentions of bringing car back as it wasn't 100% ready to collect.

Thanks folks for reading as it is a long ass post but any input would be very much appreciated.

    Jay

the job should be pretty much seamless. Don't sign off on it unless you're happy. sounds like a halfarsed job.

..the repair should be invisible, and all missing bits should be there, and damaged ones replaced.

..not only don't sign for it - send a fax to the garage and the other party paying for it (insurance), with a couple of quick lines on it saying the repair is sub-standard and unacceptable, and you want it remedied. That, until the car is presented in same-as-pre-crash condition, you won't be accepting the job as complete.

Phonecalls, verbals, useless - a note is much better - get it on the record.

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Shocking! Hope you get sorted out, accept nothing less than the state it was in before the crash. I've seen panels pulled, filled, painted in small time operations and you would never know the difference with the standard of finish and colour matching. For this quality to come from an "insurance specialist" is really poor, they ain't cheap!! I'd say those guys just replace panels with significant dings especially on a 07 car, so their main challenge is colour matching.

EDIT - in my opinion you should be compensated for the hire car aswell, maybe get the insurance company in the loop, they won't be long lighting a fire under these boys as the bill mounts...
