Separation - Financial Assistance.

    Hello All,

My sister has left her husband and is living temporarily with another family member as she has no means of renting accommodation. They have two kids both over 18 and living away.

She is in receipt of disability benefit at present. This is the only income she has as he won't pay a cent towards her upkeep. Working with a solicitor at present but it looks like it could take a while to sort things out (mediation).

    Two questions:

    (1) Is there additional financial aid available to help ease the burden until such time as there is a legal requirement in place?

    (2) Are there support groups/organisations available to help her talk about this traumatic experience?

Any other female members on here who have had a similar personal experience? How long does these things usually take?

    Thanks.
