Is this the right forum for this?

Looking for advice and feedback in relation to sales commission for media sales (online)

Commission is paid after the customer has settled with my company.

so if I make a sale in Feb 2010, the product is delivered in March and the customer pays in April, I will get the commission in May.

So its taking roughly 3 months to get paid my commission, does this seem long

and also if I left the job would the company be required to pay me all commission immediately even if they havent recieved payment?

If your company is only getting paid in may it makes sense that they pay you like that, a sale isn't a sale until it's paid for and no the company wouldn't have to pay you, if you can get customers to pay up front then they should pay you..

well - it varies. Insurance/pensions do a lump then a residual for a year. A lot of companies do X% on signing and the balance on payment. Waiting three months seems cruel - but the company cant pay on on the basis of a 'promise' - if you get the drift. (ps what happens if you leave - ar you still going to get the commission on money that comes in after your departure?)

cash in basis is pretty standard for commission roles, otherwise leads to problems with "faking" of documents so rep gets comm on sale that never occurs and leaves before it materialises.

A decent company will pay you even after you leave - but again when they get the money.
