I was wondering if the same item is available on both sites is their any advantage purchasing from one over the other, using Paypal,as regards exchange rate conversion?

    It makes no difference.

Only difference would be where the item was? It could be listed on ebay.co.uk in Sterling but the item could actauly be in Ireland and conversly an item listed on ebay.ie in euros and physically be in the UK or Hong Kong but thats another story.

Postage costs due to location are often a deciding factor.

If it's the same item from the same seller that's listed in both .ie and .co.uk, then price and postage will be the same, regardless of currency.

I'm sure your right but read the original post a couple of times and couldn't be sure that was the case.

If OP was looking on .co.uk then there is no guarantee the item will actually be available to someone in Ireland if the seller doesn't want to send it here, but if you use .ie then at least, even if its a bit more limited, the items are available to be sent to Ireland if not here already.

In the end it makes no difference where you are signed in provided the seller will send the item here.

Yeah, searches on ebay.ie often don't show items that are on .co.uk, even though the seller does ship here. You can do custom searches to include them, but I just use .co.uk as it's easier.

I buy from the UK site rather than the Irish Site. Lots of UK sellers put uk only on their auctions so they don't show up on ebay.ie. I just email the seller to see if he/she is happy to post to Ireland and most are in my experience.

If the item is appearing in both sites there is no difference from which site you buy.
