    Hey all,
A colleague of mine was tryin to fix an offline file issue for a laptop user and by accident dlete the Offline Cache from the CSC folder.

Can anyone recommend a way to get it back.

We have tried system restore to no avail.

    Thanks

You're trying to recover a file that was unsynchronised before the offline cache was deleted?

You'll need to use a file undelete tool to grab the contents of windows/csc/d0-d8 to an external drive / usb key and try to sift through them I think.

There's a program which tries to read the index and parse it using PERL linked from

    Haven't tested it myself though.

It's associated with a forensics and data recovery crowd that can attempt to recover the file(s).

in general you can use photorec to recover files to an external or network drive.

not sure if csc is on the list of recognised files, unlikely though

but in all cases the rule is if possible to not use the machine and not install any software, since this may overwrite the space the files were in

best recovery from a live CD that won't write to the drive

and yes you would have to sift through manually and you don't get file names but if you need one particular file it might just scrape it off bare metal.
